  1. hi pete, i purchased your book from amazon, received it yesterday. i was surprised to see 4 of my patterns in your book but i wasn't given credit in the designer/creator list in the back of the book. could you tell me how you came up with blox, pipez, crete, and hached? those are mine. my name is alice hendon, i am a CZT. i didn't give you permission to use my work in your book, but since you did, i would like to include your book in works i've been published in :)

  2. Alice:

I'm so sorry I missed anyone in my credit list. If I do a second volume I'll put the name and designer / creator right before EVERY pattern. I got my list of designers/creators off the web, as did I get most of the patterns in my book. I'm registered for the June '14 CZT class so I'll humbly join your CZT ranks halfway through next year. I found 99.9% of the patterns off the web by searching for 'zentangle' or 'zentangle pattern' or 'zentangle patterns' 2 or 3 very prolific sources were zantanglepatterns.com, http://www.amarylliscreations.com/zentangleharmony, and http://www.pinterest.com you can find BLOX at http://flickrhivemind.net/Tags/blox,zentangle/Recent . You can find PIPEZ at http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=pipez as well as your sit http://thecreatorsleaf.blogspot.com/2012/08/pipez-new-tangle-pattern.html . You can find CRETE at http://www.pinterest.com/pin/162481499027766170/ as well as your site http://thecreatorsleaf.blogspot.com/2012/05/crete-new-tangle.html and you can find hached at http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=hached as well as your site http://thecreatorsleaf.blogspot.ca/search/label/my%20patterns . I'm very much a computer person (wrote my first program in 1973, designed the database for NASA for the space station Freedom) and if you put anything on the web immediately everybody in the world finds everything in the world, if you know what I mean. I do appreciate your patterns ('tangles' as Rick and Maria call them) and I've been very careful to never use any creator's pattern I redrew every one of them myself when I first fell in love with this art form. It's these redrawn patterns that I use in my book. I'm very sorry I omitted you from my list of creator / designers. I tried to be as complete as possible and I didn't intentionally omit anyone, all you CZTs are GREAT in my mind. You'll find in my book that I extol the merits of your skills and insist that everyone take courses from you CZTs. I edify you all in my work and give all credit to Rick and Maria first and then all of you and only all of you CZTs next.

    1. not a problem, peters, i appreciate you adding credit to me in the next book. the website www.thecreatorsleaf.blogspot.com is mine - alice hendon, the flickr page you referred me to is mine as well. so basically anything that has The Creator's Leaf is probably mine - but you can just use my name. i am enjoying your first book - lots of awesome tangles. good luck with your CZT training - it's a lot of fun! a lot of information packed into a short amount of time - you are going to love it!

  3. Alice I have credited you twice already in my next work. for BAULT EXPLORATIONS BY ALICE HENDON and SUNS BY ALICE HENDON so it was just a lack of information in the case of the first book. Pete

  5. Hi! I had your book on my wish list at Amazon and it just disappeared! Is it not being published anymore, or is it because you're working on an update? I was so looking forward to getting a copy - I really hope it's just because there's a new edition on the way!

  6. I am relatively new to anything similar to Zentangle/zebdoodle. It seems there are millions of patterns which conceivably could be repeated by accident. Please give your advice to prevent accidental reproduction of a pattern.

    1. There's really no way to guarantee that any pattern ('tangle' as Rick and Maria refer to them) you create hasn't been created by anyone else before you. However there are some terrific and rather complete sites out there. https://zentangle.com is Rick and Maria's 'official' site and https://tanglepatterns.com is another excellent and relatively complete site. This site is created and maintained by a very accomplished fellow CZT, Linda Farmer, CZT!
